ER nurse and resident knitwit

I just got hired by my local county hospital to work in their ER. This has been my dream since I decided to become a nurse.  That it is my first job out of the gate just thrills me.  I am a third career nurse, having spent years in biotech in the 80’s developing nucleic acid diagnostics for infectious diseases, ten years running my own photography business doing portraits of children and families, and raising 3 kids.  I am blessed to have been able to stay home with those kids as long as possible, but college tuition and the desire to have an impact called me back to the profitable workforce. (never made any real money with the photo business).  It took me two and a half years to get here with the prereqs and the accelerated BSN program and I am ready to roll my sleeves up and work. Bring it on.

  1. I am really enjoying reading your blog! Do you think it is an asset to be older when looking for a job in this market or did it make it harder?

  3. Hi there,

Just wondering if it would be possible to include a link on your site to our nursing school site. I was hoping we can come to some arrangement. I am happy to negotiate payment in return for the link placement.

Please kindly get back to me with your thoughts.
